These are perhaps the most important chapters in the entire Hebrew Scriptures. The events recorded here are alike in importance to the events of Holy Week!

The Plagues of Egypt: Exodus 7-10
The Last Plague; The Passover; The Exodus: Exodus 11-14, 16-17

Or, if you’re really bold, read all the way through: Gen 12-Exodus 6!

Wednesday, September 7: To begin our survey of the Old Testament, we are going to examine briefly the three most significant events of the Old Testament, the giving of the Torah at Mt. Sinai, God’s promise to David, and the catastrophe of the Exile. In subsequent classes we will examine the events leading up to and out of each of these three events as well. In preparation for this class, try to read the following. If you have time, read the psalms in parenthesis below as well!

The Covenant at Mt Sinai: Ex 19-20; (Ps 105)
The Promise to David: 2 Sam 7; (Ps 89:19-37)
The Calamity of Exile: 2 Kings 17 &  24-25; (Ps 89:38-51; Ps 137)
